LEED for Existing Buildings - Anchorage 11-9-09 - COURSE SUMMARY
MORNING session
A. Brief LEED 2009 Overview (~1 hr), including the most critical changes in the LEED rationg system and the requirements of the new LEED Professional Accreditation progam
B. Introduction to the Assessment and Execution of Sustainability in Existing Buildings (~ 3hrs), including:
- Criteria that define sustainablity in Existing Buildings
- Value of integrating sustainability ito facility improvement, management and maintenance practices
- Familiarity with LEED for Existing Buildings: OPerations and Maintenance rating system and its utility
- Market uptake of green buyilding and LEED in existing buildings
- Critical variable to consider in determining feasibility and prospective LEED EB:O&M performance
AFTERNOON session :
C. Benchmarking and Enhancing Existing Building Sustainability Performance Using LEED for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance, including:
- Standards, metric and process
- Tools used to benchmark building performance
- Understanding how data used to inform goals and decision-making
- Value and process of energy auditing as it related the LEED EB: O&M
- Strategies for successful implementation, certification, and continuous building improvement
- Case studies to illustrate LEED EB: O&M concepts, strategies and processes

CONTINUING ED CREDITS
The full-day workshop will count for 7 BOMI, 7 AIA and 7 AK Real Estate Commission continuing education credits, and for 5 LEED-specific continuing ed hours for LEED professions (3 of which can be counted as O&M specific).
LOCATION AND TIME
The workshop will take place at the Captain Cook Hotel, from 8 am to 5 pm, in the Foredeck Room.

Breakfast will be provided with the mornign session, lunch with the afternoon session.
